Official News Release

The 36th Annual Caribbean Days Festival Returns to Coquitlam Bigger and Better on July 26 and 27

COQUITLAM, BC – After a record-breaking event in 2024, the Caribbean Days Festival is set to make an even bigger splash this summer as it continues to thrive in its new home at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park. The festival, now in its 36th year, will take place on Saturday, July 26 from 10AM to 10PM and Sunday, July 27 at 11AM to 8PM, and promises an unforgettable celebration of Caribbean culture, music, food, and community.

“We were absolutely thrilled to host another Caribbean Days Festival this summer,” said Marilyn Perrin, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society of BC, a non-profit organization that organizes the Caribbean Days Festival. “It is always heartwarming to see so many people come together to celebrate, dance, and enjoy the vibrant spirit of the Caribbean right here in Coquitlam. The community response has been incredible, and it shows how deeply people value multicultural experiences that bring us closer together.”

Established in 1988, by the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Society of BC, Caribbean Days Festival is one of British Columbia’s largest and longest-running cultural celebrations. The event is free to attend, family-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and fully inclusive. It showcases the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Caribbean in a way that welcomes all.

The festival begins with a Caribbean Days Parade on Saturday, July 26 at 11AM. People of all ages are invited to join and dress in vibrant costumes to show their country’s pride through Town Centre Park.

Attendees can enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine, alongside a variety of international dishes offered at a selection of food trucks. The craft market will be open both days featuring handmade art, jewelry, clothing, and other artisanal goods. Guests 19 and older can also enjoy drinks at the beer garden.

Caribbean Days Festival will have live performances on the main stage all weekend long, featuring Soca, Reggae, Calypso, Latin, African, and other global musical styles.

“Events like Caribbean Days Festival are not only entertaining—they’re essential,” said Avita Sharma, Chairperson of the Caribbean Days Festival. “They provide a platform to share our cultural heritage with others and foster connections across communities. It’s a joyful, enriching experience for everyone involved.”
